St. Paul, Minn. - Following the passage of the new rideshare deal, Hospitality Minnesota released the following statement:

“Today, we join Minnesota businesses, customers, and employees in applauding the legislative deal on rideshare policy. Many workers in the hospitality industry rely on rideshares to get to and from work each and every day. Their safety and access to reliable and affordable transportation is a top priority, and we are grateful that access will continue without interruption.

“It is not news to anyone that the hospitality industry also depends on rideshare for our customers. Whether it be the tens of thousands of visitors in town for concerts or major events or Minnesotans out for a night on the town, Uber and Lyft play a significant role in ushering customers safely to and from the thousands of bars, restaurants, and hotels throughout the Twin Cities.

“We are grateful for the tireless work of our legislative leaders and Governor Walz in reaching an agreement that will benefit all parties involved. Although we are happy to retain safe, reliable rideshare for our employees and guests, we remain concerned about the affordability given the new structure.”
