Summer of Staycation: Minnesota Hotels and Restaurants Prepare for Busy Summer Season

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – June 2025 – Hospitality Minnesota is pleased to announce a robust start to the summer season for Minnesota's hotel and hospitality industries, with May 2025 lodging performance showing significant gains over the previous year. As the industry prepares for what is anticipated to be a "Summer of Staycation," Minnesota hotels are demonstrating their readiness to welcome a growing number of guests.

According to the latest STR Report for May 2025, Minnesota hotels collectively reported a 2.1% higher occupancy rate compared to May 2024, demonstrating strong visitor demand across the state. Additionally, both Average Daily Rate (ADR) and Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) showed positive growth year-over-year.

"These strong May performance indicators are incredibly encouraging as we head into the peak summer travel season," said Angie Whitcomb, President and CEO of Hospitality Minnesota. "Minnesota's hotels are ready to provide exceptional experiences for every guest who walks through our doors. We're excited to showcase the warm hospitality and outstanding service that makes our state such a special destination."

This occupancy increase underscores the resilience and appeal of Minnesota as a travel destination, and the hospitality industry looks forward to a busy and successful summer season.
